Ferguson return a trump for Redbacks

South Australian captain Michael Klinger says he has a trump card up his sleeve for the Twenty20 Champions League.

Klinger believes comeback batsman Callum Ferguson can propel the Redbacks deep into the tournament in South Africa.
Ferguson, 25, was a near-regular in the national one-day side, averaging more than 46 in 25 matches, when a knee reconstruction halted his emerging career last October.

Ferguson returned to competitive cricket in Twenty20 trial matches in Darwin last week.

"From what I have seen, he's playing and timing better than he ever has," Klinger said on Thursday.

"He is definitely stronger than before he actually did it in terms of the testing that he's done."

Klinger said a productive Champions League would have Ferguson on the verge of resuming his international career.
