Mike Hussey says he's "very confident" of a home victory in the Ashes, although the veteran batsman has stopped short of repeating Ricky Ponting's line about a 5-0 sweep.

Ponting was asked by reporters a week ago in Melbourne if he felt Australia were capable of winning 5-0 and the Test skipper said it was "absolutely possible"
Hussey, who played in Australia's 5-0 win at home four years ago, says Ponting's men are quite capable of regaining the Ashes without their retired bowling heroes Shane Warne and Glenn McGrath.

"We go into every Test trying to win. That's what Ricky means," Hussey told reporters on Thursday.

"I don't think he's making any claims were going to win 5-0...

"But our aim is to win every Test."
Despite Australia's Ashes defeat in England in 2009 and 1-1 drawn series earlier this year against Pakistan, Hussey sees positive signs for the England series which starts in Brisbane on November 25.

"I've got a very good feeling about the Ashes," the 52-Test veteran said.

"A lot of legends left the team a few years ago, but we've been able to keep a core group of players together for a good couple of years now and we've been slowly building.

"We've built up a good base of fast-bowling stock. It holds us in very good stead.

"We've got the pain of losing last time as well."

While Australia's October Test series in India has been criticised by Warne as being not an ideal Ashes preparation, Hussey says any Test cricket in the next few months will be good.

"I see a lot of positives about going to India as well, particularly playing a couple of Tests," the 35-year-old West Australian said.
